NJWedding.com Launches NJ Civil Union Celebrations
Section
NEW JERSEY - NJWedding.com
recently launched a special section devoted to helping same-sex
couples plan their Civil Union celebration in New Jersey, announced
Erik and Beth Kent, Co-publishers of the wedding planning web
site. According to recent Census data, there are over 16,600
households of unmarried same-sex couples (8,257 same-sex male
unmarried partners and 8,347 same-sex female unmarried partners)
in New Jersey, though it is reported that estimates suggest that
the true count is 10 percent to 50 percent higher than census
figures.
The legislation of NJ Civl
Unions for same-sex couples became effective on Monday, February
19, 2007, and this new section on NJWedding.com contains articles
about obtaining a Civil Union license, information on planning
a Civil Union ceremony and links to various organizations and
additional web sites. The section also features wedding professionals
serving couples in Northern, Central and Southern New Jersey
who are searching for services for their Civil Union ceremony
and reception.
"The response from the
wedding community to the Civil
Union Celebrations section has been tremendous, with wedding
professionals such as clergy and officiants, photographers, wedding
and event planners, entertainment companies, banquet facilities,
florists and more, looking to promote their services to same-sex
couples," stated the Kents. "With the passing of the
Civil Union law in New Jersey, gay and lesbian couples seeking
to become Civil Unioned have reason to celebrate. We want to
provide a valuable resource to help them find relevant information
and services."
