10 Reasons To Visit Costa Rica

There are few places in the world that can offer the incredible diversity offered by Costa Rica.  This small country in Central America is only 150 miles wide by 250 miles long and offers immense diversity in scenery, climate, and vacation pleasures.

The Wildlife – One of the most amazing things about this beautiful country is the wildlife.  Driving down the roads make sure to look up at the trees where you will find families of howler monkeys. Much wildlife to be enjoyed in Costa Rica including: monkeys, sloths, many birds (the toucans were my favorite!), snakes, frogs, and iguanas to name a few.

The Volcanoes – Costa Rica has 14 active and non-active volcanoes.  There are stunning views of these volcanoes and if you’re lucky enough to visit these areas you will most likely soak in the hot springs created by their heat.

Adventure Activities – With so many activities to enjoy including zip-lining, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, hiking, exploring the forests, mountain biking, surfing, sports fishing, and snorkeling, there is something to appeal to everyone!

Eco-tourism – Costa Rica’s diverse habitats and ecosystems include thousands of plant species, butterflies, amphibians, reptiles, fish and birds.  Tens of thousands of tourists experience the beauty of this country without doing any harm to the glorious environment.  Costa Rica is one of the most eco-friendly destinations on the planet.

The Forests – the beautiful and lush forests will leave you breathless.  Hike through the rain forest and cloud forest and you’ll be amazed by the plants and wildlife.

The People – The people in Costa Rica are the nicest and friendliest people I have ever met.  They are known to be some of the happiest and most educated people in the world. Costa Rica has one of the highest literacy rates in the world.

Surfing – Costa Rica is famous for its surfing beaches.  The water is warm year round and the surf is good on both the Caribbean and Pacific sides.  There are also great surf schools if you are new to the sport!

The Beaches – There are beaches on both sides of the country, the Caribbean and Pacific Coasts.  Some of the beaches back up to the forest, offering unbeatable scenery.  Water sports are plentiful!

The Food – Costa Rica’s lush terrain and abundance of sun and rain brings many different kinds of crops. Be sure to visit local fruit stands during your visit to enjoy fresh mango, papaya, pineapple, avocado, bananas and plantains.

The Weather – With warm temperatures all year round, plenty of sun and refreshing rain showers, Costa Rica is a year round destination.  The rainy season from May to November results in beautiful and lush terrain.  From December to May it is hot and sunny with little to no showers.
