HERE'S WHY YOU WON'T SEE US AT MANY WEDDING SHOWCASES

Every year, you'll find tons of wedding showcases and expos scheduled on industry calendars. These trade show-style events are designed help engaged couples compare and find all their wedding vendors in one convenient location.

Many of our fellow wedding industry vendors in New Jersey sign up to exhibit at showcases across the state, but you're not likely to see Hurricane Productions at them. In fact, aside from sponsoring the annual Red Bank Wedding Walk (happening March 22, 2020!), we rarely participate in wedding industry events.

While some wedding vendors get great business from bridal expos, we prefer to grow our business organically through word-of-mouth referrals and local targeted marketing. Here are a few reasons we opt to skip most of New Jersey's wedding showcases.

1. For vendors, wedding showcases are a big investment of both time and money.

Exhibitors at any trade show have to pay an entry fee for their booth. But the full cost of setting up at a wedding expo is more than that fee. It's also the printed booth materials, the brochures and giveaway items, the travel time and expenses, and the time of our staff to physically be there and work the booth. Sure, booking a handful of weddings from a showcase might cover those expenses, but to us, our time and energy is better spent on other client-facing activities.

At an event like the Wedding Walk, clients are able to come visit us right in our office. We're already here, so there's no additional cost to set anything up. Best of all, you can see us in our natural environment! Which brings us to our second reason...

2. You won't get to know us from a quick booth visit.

At Hurricane, we pride ourselves on is building up a strong relationship and rapport with each of our clients. This means chatting with you in-depth about your wedding vision and giving you the opportunity to ask questions and get to know our talented team of DJs, MCs, photographers, videographers, and full-time support staff.

It's pretty hard to do that during the hustle and bustle of a crowded trade show. Some showcases have hundreds of vendors out on the floor, and couples who want to maximize their time will typically only spend a few minutes at each table.

Things are a little more relaxed at the Wedding Walk, where couples are able to walk around beautiful downtown Red Bank and meet individually with the ~40 wedding vendors located here in town. You get a much better sense of who they are and how they do business, and if you're getting married in Monmouth County, you can automatically trust their local knowledge and experience!

3. We want you to book us because you love us, not just because we offer you a great deal.

Vendors that exhibit at wedding expos typically have special promotions and offers for couples who book them at the show. And there's nothing wrong with that -- in fact, it's a great way to close deals and gain a lot of clients in a single day.

Of course, we offer promotional pricing, too, especially for referral clients. But your wedding day is a big deal, and like any other major decision, you don't want to book the first vendor you talk to on the spot, just because they're affordable.

To us, it's important that you feel 100% comfortable with the price and with Hurricane as a company. You may find a great vendor in your price range at a showcase, but that doesn't mean they're the right vendor.

As mentioned above, it's hard to get a sense of what a company is all about from a quick chat at a busy expo, so we encourage all our prospective clients to take their time researching and talking to vendors to be sure they're making the right decision for their big day.
