Love In The Time Of COVID-19: New Jersey Weddings On The Rise As NJWedding.com Enters 24th Year

Since its inception on Valentine’s Day in 1997, NJWedding.com has made it simple for engaged couples to find services such as local wedding venues, DJs, photographers, videographers, clergy and wedding officiants, floral designers, limousines, wedding bands, invitations, favors and much more through the Internet in the comfort of their home or office. This local wedding planning web site enters its 24th year serving the wedding community on February 14, 2021, announced co-publishers Erik and Beth Kent. The Kents began formulating ideas for the site after they planned their wedding in the early 90s (they met at Rutgers University in 1990 and married at Kirkpatrick Chapel on the Rutgers campus in 1994), the site began to take shape, gain support from the local weddings community and evolve. There are an average of 45,000-50,000 weddings per year that take place in New Jersey (per data from the NJ Department of Health, Center for Health Statistics), and the Kents take pride in publishing an online resource that helps couples find the services and information they need.

"Over the past year, even though there have been a reduction in the number of weddings due to the pandemic," says Erik Kent, "engaged couples have continued to plan their weddings, even if they have had to be postponed or rescheduled because of COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines affecting capacity limitations from local venues. We take great pride in guiding couples in obtaining a marriage license in New Jersey (including virtual marriage options during the pandemic) and also finding a wedding officiant. When it comes to planning their wedding celebration, they can choose from Virtual Weddings / Online Marriage to Elopements / Micro-Weddings and also contact Banquet Facilities / Reception Venues to inquire about availability," Kent added.

According to The Wedding Report, a research company that collects and forecasts wedding statistics, there were an estimated 23,150 weddings in 2021 throughout New Jersey, and for 2021, there will be an estimated 31,700 weddings. For 2022, the forecast is that 55.570 weddings will take place around the Garden State. As the pandemic continues to affect wedding plans, NJWedding.com has created a guide entitled "Planning Your New Jersey Weddings: 2021 Edition" for couples to learn about the latest COVID-19 restrictions in New Jersey, and to further clarify for all members of the NJ wedding community, the Kents have posted "Moving Forward with your New Jersey Marriage and Wedding Plans in 2021" to aid in wedding planning.
