Acne

Acne

What is Acne?

Acne is a skin condition that affects millions of people of all ages. Whether you already have acne, or you want to prevent it, knowing about the causes of acne and how to treat it, is the first step to helping you achieve clear skin.

Acne is caused by many factors affecting the skin.

Generally, your follicles are connected to oil glands under the surface of your skin. These glands make oil that flow up through the follicle and onto your skin’s surface.  When you have acne, oil glands make too much oil and shed too many dead skin cells. These get trapped and plug your follicle causing an eruption. Bacteria can also get trapped inside the follicles and cause swelling and redness.

Types of Acne

  • Whiteheads – plugged follicles that close up and bulge, creating a raised white colored bump.
  • Blackheads – plugged follicles that stay open. Air turns the plug black.
  • Papules – small, hard bumps that are often red and sore because of a swollen or infected follicle.
  • Pustules – pimples ,bumps filled with white or yellow pus that are often red and sore. They form when the wall of a plugged follicle breaks just below your skin’s surface.
  • Nodules – large, solid, sore bumps below your skin’s surface that can cause scars. They form when the wall of a plugged follicle breaks deep below the surface.
  • Cysts – cystic acne – like nodules, but they’re filled with pus.

Some Acne preventative tips.

  • The Wash Cloth Method, perfected by KimAnn MacNish, is a simple method that improves skin overall appearance. It is simple. Place a warm wash cloth upon your skin for a few minutes, can help your pores expel some of the debris that has built up throughout the day and night. After placing the wash cloth upon your skin for a few minutes (even seconds count), gently and thoroughly wipe away any impurities that may have been released using the wash cloth, follow with the appropriate cleanser for clean and fresh skin. This will get you the perfect cleanse every time. Don’t be fooled by these mechanically devices or gimmicks that cost too much money. It is not worth it and these are not the safe, effective way to cleanse the skin.
  • Hydrate/Moisturize your skin. Having a balanced pH on the skin, is very important in maintaining healthy skin. When the skin’s pH is balanced, the skin has its own protection against acne.
  • Don’t pick or pop your pimples. Squeezing a pimple can make it worse by spreading the bacteria or by pushing dead skin cells, oil and bacteria down into your skin. This can cause redness and swelling and can even leave a scar.
  • Keep your hands and hair off your face. Oil and dirt from both the hands and hair can clog pores and cause breakouts.
  • Wash face immediately after sweating, leaving sweat can clog your follicles and make acne worse.
  • Remove your make-up before going to bed. This is another way that your follicles can become clog and acne worse.
  • Do not over dry your skin. This will cause your oil glands to think that they are not producing enough oil and they will produce excess oil.

Sticking to a daily skin care routine is one of the best things you can do to keep your skin healthy.

Possible solutions to treating your acne

  • We are glad to be the home of the Trust Skincare Systems. Trust provides a line of medical grade skincare products. Medical Grade products mean that it contains a higher percentage of active ingredients, making their products more effective. Active ingredients or ingredients that truly work cannot be purchased over the counter and don’t get trapped in the marketing scam.
  • Chemical Peels can kill acne and help smooth and hydrate the skin.
  • Heat Mask, designed to remove impurities, black head, pustules and pimples. A great treatment for clearing the skin away of dirt and debris while also hydrating the skin. If you have skin that is filled with black heads prescription medication is not going to help this. The skin needs to be cleared away manually under proper preparation of the skin. If the debris stays in the skin eventually the black head will get smaller and fall out leaving individuals with a hole or possible scar.
