It is said that every child has a spark that is ignited within them at a very early age and that spark will light their way to success. That spark for me was photography. My parents gave me a very basic point and shoot film camera in elementary school and from that moment, I wanted to stay behind the camera, searching for every beauty that’s in this world. To capture all the different emotions, personalities, and gorgeous details that come with every different type of photography setup, makes my passion turn into your memories.

For over 10 years, my professional career as a photographer has grown from the passion that started as a young child. This blossomed in my sophomore year in college at Saint Joseph University in Philadelphia, where I received a BFA in Fine and Performing Arts, with a concentration in Photography. During this time, I lived in the photography lab, finding the beautiful details in all aspects of life. It was this dedication that made it possible to be recognized with the Ann Smulowitz Award for Fine Arts.

I believe that it is important to continue learning about my trade. Keeping this in mind, I have attended day seminars. Also, I spent a week in New York studying under Jerry Ghionis, the first Grand Master of WPPI and the most awarded photographer in the business. It was a rewarding and enriching experience. I intend to continue going to day seminars as well as planning to study under more master photographers. And am currently enrolled in Sue Bryce Photographer Education.

As I transitioned from a college graduate to a professional photographer, I worked with many amazing people in the photography business, with a few being wedding photographers. The more I was able to dig into the finer details of the photography world, the more I felt myself being pulled into the emotional joys of becoming a wedding photographer. A wedding brings out the amazing exquisiteness of life and celebration; the emotions of bliss & love, the moments of laughter & smiles, the memories that last a lifetime. It was the ability to capture those moments, in a single shot, that made me realize this was my dream coming true.

My goal is to make every couple, every session, every moment, speak volumes of the subjects’ personalities and to be able to accomplish that in a very artistic manner. Every person wants to have those memories taken in a format that they are able to display in their home and be the “center of attention”. By speaking with the couples prior to their day of celebration, I am able to get a sense of who they are, what made them fall in love with one another, and how they want their photographs to turn out. Whether traditional settings or full-on artistic setups, my goal is to provide the style of photography for their day that they want in order to provide them with memories that will last a lifetime. To know that those that I have the privilege of capturing in photographs are going to be thrilled with the end product is what makes being a photographer such a rewarding career.

In the end, my goal is to use my tool, my camera, to capture everyday objects, events, and people in a style that no one would ever imagine. It is that uniqueness, that eye for the extraordinary, that is dawn elizabeth photography.
