New Era Begins For Legendary Estate

Shrewsbury, NJ -- Seasons and The Venetian Catering proudly introduce the historic Shadowbrook at Shrewsbury as the newest addition to their family of fine catering facilities. A New Jersey landmark since 1907, Shadowbrook reflects the craftsmanship and artistic detail of an elegant and gentile era.

James Kourgelis, George Kourgelis, Carl Carfello, Mike Kourgelis, Christos Gourmos and Mark Spinelli, who currently own and operate The Venetian Catering Facility in Garfield, NJ and Seasons Catering and Special Events in Washington Township, NJ, will expand their tradition of quality, service and excellence with the addition of Shadowbrook. “We fell in love with the place and its history.” Kourgelis said. “We wanted to add something different to our portfolio that we had not before offered within our group.”

The estate was constructed in 1907 as a Summer home for Dr. Fahnestock, and had become a restaurant in 1943. In 1971, the Zweben family purchased it. “They had a wonderful long 40 year run.” Kourgelis said. “Our best wishes to Robert Zweben and his family and our heartfelt thanks for entrusting Shadowbrook’s legacy with us!” Kourgelis said that over two years ago he made an offer to buy Shadowbrook, but the deal fell through.

Kourgelis plans to uphold the fine tradition and legacy that is Shadowbrook.
